“Life is short, eat dessert first” is a motto that I can definitely get behind. My sweet tooth knows no bounds, and what’s more satisfying than rounding off a meal on a sweet note? Having said that, there are still a couple of places around Dubai that serve up some sweet treats that are worth talking about. Here are five awesome desserts that we would 100% jump into our car and drive out for:

Clinton Street Baking Company – Blondie Sundae (AED 40)

You can’t beat a good sundae, and this one from Clinton Street Baking Company is a whole lot of awesome. Homemade butterscotch blondie served with vanilla ice cream, salted caramel sauce, and butterscotch chips. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and salty that is totally worth the two extra hours on the treadmill. (Call 04 4535456)

Fümé – Bro-Nut Monstershake (AED52)

Milkshakes are all well and good, but how about you attempt a Monstershake instead? These jaw-dropping creations first appeared on Instagram, and pretty much took off in an instant. Fümé serves a small selection of these gigantic shakes, but the Bro-Nut is our top pick. Chocolate brownie, Nutella, and marshmallows make for a superbly decadent chocolate treat. (Call 04 421 5669)

Catch22 - Lotus French Toast (AED 49)

Lotus biscuits have been around for ages, but it wasn’t until people started incorporating them into desserts did things really start heating up. This French toast from Catch22 features thick battered brioche stuffed with Lotus cream and served with vanilla bean crème anglaise. It’s a dessert worth sharing, but there’s nothing wrong with keeping this sweet gem to yourself. (Call  04 4243057)

Dum Dum Donutterie – Cronutella Cronut (AED 22)

The Cronut craze may have died down, but the folks at Dum Dum Donutterie certainly are keeping this fad in check. This boutique shop has a startling variety of baked goods, and our definite pick is the Cronutella. Soft flaky pastry topped with Nutella that’s so good, you want to just walk out with a box of them. (Call 04 261 1601)

Home Bakery - Milk Cake (AED 230)

This decadent milk cake consists of soft vanilla sponge in a light milk sauce, topped with cream and berries. It’s perfect for sharing or to impress guests at a small dinner party, but don’t be surprised if you literally just want to eat it straight out of the cake pan. (Call 04 344 4462)
