While some of you may be busy booking where to go for dinner on Valentine's Day, some of you may be looking for other things to do that might be a bit more affordable. Fear not, here at DSN HQ we have a few tricks up our sleeve to make for a memorable Valentine's Day without going too overboard:

Pack a picnic: it may sound super cliche, but a picnic in a quiet park during the cooler weather is actually a great idea. Pick a spot that's away from families with kids, and pop open some sparkling juice for a cheeky afternoon meal. Pack some cold sandwiches or finger desserts and just enjoy each other's company away from the barrage of work, household chores, and constantly beeping cellphones.

Embarrass yourselves (in private) with karaoke: even if both of you are tone deaf, you can enjoy some great food and drink while knowing that no one else can hear you scream (literally). Pick out some cheesy duets and get on those mikes! AED 150, Lucky Voice Dubai

Netflix: if neither of you feel like going out on Valentine's Day, then get comfy on the couch. Pillage your bed for pillows and comfy blankets and pile them onto the couch. Get snacks, drinks, a small garbage bin, and you're all set for a night of TV watching - steer clear of soppy romantic films and enjoy some stand-up comedies or some of the other great shows.

Relive your first date: try and recreate your first date at home if possible. Get food from your favorite restaurant, wear the same (or similar) clothes on your first date, and set the mood for one romantic flashback. It doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg, but it's a cheesy sentiment that won't go unnoticed.
